SATURNE biobank (SAmples sTUdy Repository NEgri) is part of the “Mario Negri” Biological Resources Centre, which brings together the biobanks of the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research IRCCS in a centralized structure, certified since 2014 by UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 for the “collection, storage and distribution of biological samples and related data for scientific research studies”. SATURNE stores and distributes biological samples collected during national and international clinical studies, not only in the fields of cardiovascular diseases but also in intensive care and some rare diseases. Each sample is handled according to strict ethical and regulatory standards, ensuring integrity, traceability, reliability, and quality. The biobank represents a treasure for public health, based on close collaboration between citizens, researchers, and institutions. Our ambition is to contribute to identifying biomarkers to improve diagnosis, predict disease progression, and promote new treatments in the context of increasingly personalized medicine. We are also part of the national node (BBMRI.it) of the European biobank and biomolecular resources infrastructure (BBMRI-ERIC) and the Widespread Biobank (BBDCARDIO) of the IRCCS Cardiological Network, which aims to facilitate the coordination of the network’s biobanks, harmonizing activities to promote future projects in the cardiovascular field.
