Description

The Regional Laboratory for Cancer Prevention of ISPRO (Institute for Cancer Research, Prevention and Clinical Network) is involved in programmes of screening prevention of cervical cancer and colorectal cancer, and is involved in research activity of new diagnostic protocols and new molecular tests in screening and early diagnosis of uterine cervical, colorectal, lung, and prostate cancer, and in studies concerning specific genetic changes in carcinogenesis and their possible role in early diagnosis, prognosis, staging and grading of cancer. The institutional activities and research projects conducted by ISPRO involve the collection, conservation and storage in the biobank of healthy and pathological human biological samples taken for research purposes (blood, urine, sputum, cervical sampling, faeces, tissue fragments and biopsies, DNA/RNA/buffy-coat). The samples are collected after informed consent according to the specifications of each study.
