Description

Tropica Biobank is a repository of clinical samples collected from infectious and tropical diseases patients. Samples are associated to clinical data, collected at the Department of Infectious, Tropical Diseases and Microbiology (DITM) of the IRCCS Sacro Cuore-Don Calabria Hospital. Tropica biobank originates from a serum samples collection, started in the 80’, and currently counts more than 150’000 samples from different biological matrices (blood, feaces, urines, biopsy etc.). It also includes bacterial and parasite clinical strains, nucleic acid and protein fractions. Expert lab technicians and biologists are available for managing biological specimens for Tropica Biobank. Samples and aliquots preparation are performed at the BSL2 and BSL3 laboratories of the DITM. Tropica biobank is a fundamental resource in supporting epidemiological, clinical and translational research studies for the DITM and for collaborating centers.
